In this episode we explore the topic of lying, relaying some of my own thoughts alongside quotes from Sam Harris’ essay, Lying. In doing so, we discuss what it could mean if nobody ever told a lie, what can go wrong when people opt to deceive others, and how telling the truth in every single circumstance—including white lies—can be achieved by giving the receiver some context. Following this, we take a look at Disney’s classic film, Aladdin, and watch how the story of the diamond in the rough, Princess Jasmine, the Sultan, Genie, Carpet, Abu, Jafar & Iago plays out when the hero decides to warp his reality.
